"The Copper Penny Manor"
Many people ask us how we decided on the name "Copper Penny Manor". Here is the story. The house was completed in 1928. The living room is 33 feet by 18 feet with a center fireplace. There are two large brass chandeliers and six small brass lights that surround the room. Two of the brass lights are above the fireplace. The original owner had a 1928 copper penny bolted to the each light with a small nut placed inside the light. This is where we got the name "Copper Penny". We also preferred the term manor to mansion although many local residents still call the property "The Old Spang Mansion".
